PADANG BESAR , June 15 (Bernama) — The Perlis Journalists Association (PWP) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Press Association of Southern Thailand in an effort to enhance cooperation between the two media representatives.
PWP president Mohammad Asri Shafii said the MoU would serve as a starting point for media practitioners from both countries to promote cultural exchange and sharing of expertise in the field of journalism.
“I wish to express my gratitude to Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullai for opening up a window of opportunity for PWP to establish relations with the Southern Thailand media,” he told reporters after the MoU signing yesterday.
Mohammad Asri signed on behalf of PWP while the Press Association of Southern Thailand was represented by its representative Phiphob.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Tuanku Syed Faizuddin and Raja Puan Muda of Perlis Tuanku Hajjah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.
Earlier, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin took part in a cycling event organised by the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) in collaboration with PWP in conjunction with the state-level National Journalists Day (HAWANA) 2022 celebration.
Meanwhile, MAIPs chief executive officer Mohd Nazim Mohd Noor said the event was held as a sign of appreciation to media practitioners in the state and to help the asnaf and those in need.
“Throught the programme, we managed to distribute donations to the asnaf in the Felcra Lubuk Sireh area and the needy in Padang Besar, Thailand,” he said.
