Cleanliness awareness should begin at home, says Raja Muda of Perlis

KANGAR, Nov 10 — Cleanliness begins at home and the community needs to train their children and families to be responsible for the environment.

The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail said green practices not only reduce pollution but also reduce costs such as optimal saving of energy consumption and reducing wastage of water resources.

“Coinciding with the theme of National Environment Day (HASN) this year which is ‘Environment, A Shared Responsibility’, the people of Perlis are urged to together play their role and in ensuring the people of Perlis embrace a first class mentality and live in a clean environment,” he said in a statement issued by the

Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) today.

Earlier, the Raja Muda of Perlis participated in the Environmental Partner Motorcycle Tour Programme in conjunction with the state level 2020 National Environment Day celebration.

He said although the programme this time was held in adherence to the current Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), it still managed to raise awareness on the four main aspects in environmental care including the use of containers or reusable bags through the ‘Avoid Single Use of Plastic’ campaign.

“This is because according to the study, one reusable bag is equivalent to 125 plastic bags or 52 paper bags a year,” he said.

The Electrical and Electronics Waste Collection campaign was also held to raise awareness and understanding of the need to dispose off these wastes properly and the danger of their impact on the environment and humans.
