KUCHING: The Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail took part in the Smart Reader Kids Family Fun Run 2019, taking place at Plaza Merdeka here yesterday.
His Royal Highness later presented a cheque for RM7,000 to a representative of the Association of Professional Early Childhood Providers Malaysia after the event, which was part of the programmes to be attended by Tuanku Syed Faizuddin throughout his three-day official visit to Sarawak.
The Perlis Crown Prince also visited the Datuk Amar Juma’ani Welfare Centre, Al Abyad Mosque, in Matang Jaya here yesterday and right after that, he stopped by at Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka Sarawak Centre.
At the centre, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin launched the ‘Borneo Collection’, run in connection with the ‘Ziarah Bahasa dan Pustaka’ event.
The ‘Borneo Collection’ showcases a collection of reading materials inherited from the Borneo Literature Bureau – all reflecting the unique local heritage.
Later, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin presented donations to 37 orphanages under the Orphans Welfare Organisation of Malaysia (Peryatim).
Among those in attendance at the events graced by His Royal Highness were Chief Minister’s wife Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Tupong assemblyman Fazzruddin Abdul Rahman, Education Department Sarawak director Dr Azhar Ahmad, and Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka Malaysia director-general Datuk Abang Sallehuddin Abang Shokeran.
