Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail led 91 corporate social responsibility (CSR) bike rides in 2025 to aid the state’s hardcore poor.
Perlis Islamic Religious Council and Malay Customs (MAIPs) chief executive officer Mohd Nazim Mohd Noor said Tuanku Syed Faizuddin, who is MAIPs chairman, personally met 4,375 recipients and distributed a total RM2.77mil in zakat.
From 2013 to 2025, more than 55,000 recipients benefitted from this initiative, with close to RM36mil in zakat distributed.
The latest programme covered a 10km route in neighbouring Kedah state, involving some 50 cyclists including from TTG Perlis cycling club and government departments and agencies.
During the programme, three hardcore poor families received contributions from Gano Excel Industries Sdn Bhd.
The tour also included a visit to Malaysia’s largest lingzhi (Ganoderma lucidum) farm.
A mushroom long used in traditional medicine, it is grown on specially prepared logs under controlled humidity and shade.
The stop reflected Tuanku Syed Faizuddin’s interest in industries with the potential to create jobs and support sustainable socio-economic development, Mohd Nazim said.
