For several decades, Perlis has aspired to become a leading educational hub under the motto “Perlis, the State of Knowledge.” This initiative aims to attract students while serving as a catalyst for economic development and social advancement within the community. Through the concept of waqf-based educational institution and the Bayt al-Mal, the Perlis Islamic University College (KUIPs) was established as a model of moderate Islam in Malaysia and beyond. KUIPs was founded under the auspices of the Perlis Islamic Religious Council and Malay Customs (MAIPs), with His Royal Highness the Crown Prince of Perlis serving as the principal patron. KUIPs offers unique academic programmes designed to develop knowledgeable individuals of noble character. The presence of international students further supports globalisation efforts while equipping talent for both local and international markets. Strategically located within the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT), KUIPs plays a vital role in advancing ASEAN’s agenda since the era of Tun Abdul Razak. The institution is led by distinguished figures in the national education sector. Strong support from the State Government and close collaboration with public universities (IPTA) in Perlis foster healthy competition while complementing one another. The establishment of KUIPs is expected to transform the higher education landscape in Malaysia, particularly in Perlis. With its existing strength and support, KUIPs is well-positioned to become a competitive private higher education institution (IPTS), contributing significantly to the success of the nation, the people, and the religion.
Additional Information:
Recently, HRH Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Ibni Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, announced that the Perlis Islamic University College (KUIPs) has officially been upgraded to the International Islamic University Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin (UniSIRAJ).
HRH Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Ibni Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, who is also the Chancellor of KUIPs, proclaimed that the Higher Education Department (JPT), through an official letter dated 15 November, approved the registration of KUIPs to be upgraded to the status of a university.
