His Royal Highness (HRH) The Raja of Perlis

Beautifully engraved in the folds of history is the compassion of HRH The Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail in devoting his services and contributions to the noble Religion of Islam. When he was the Crown Prince, His Royal Highness was entrusted by his father HRH Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail as the fifth (5th) President of MAIPs in 1986.

The determination of HRH Tuanku Raja who at that time as the President of MAIPs defended the supremacy of Islam in conjunction with the teachings of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaah in accordance with the Constitution of the State Government of Perlis will always be remembered and preserved. His Royal Highness often attended religious events which became platforms and avenues for the promotion of Islam. The firmness and stability of the MAIPs organisation was preserved with the appointment of His Royal Highness Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Ibni Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, as the Chairman of MAIPs on 14 December 2001.

Biography

HRH Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail who was born in Arau, Perlis on 17 May 1943 was the second son of Almarhum Tuanku Syed Putra Ibni Almarhum Syed Hassan Jamalullail and Almarhumah Tuanku Tengku Budriah binti Almarhum Tengku Ismail. His Royal Highness has a family tree that is related to the Prophet Muhammad PBUH from his father’s side and has the blood of the Sultan of Pattani from his mother’s side.

To Ascend the Throne

On 17 April 2000, HRH Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail was crowned as the 7th King of Perlis after the death of his father. His Royal Highness was the first King of Perlis to be appointed after the Constitution of the State Government of Perlis was enacted in 1948. From then on, HRH Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail became the custodian of the state that oversees all affairs and the existence of its people. Together with HRH Tuanku Tengku Fauziah binti Almarhum Tengku Abdul Rashid as the Raja Perempuan of Perlis (Queen Consort of Perlis), His and Her Royal Highness have always shown love and care for the people, the administration of Islam and the development of the state. In addition, His Royal Highness was also appointed as the Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Ranger Regiment (RRD) and the Royal Military Police Corps (KPTD), as well as the Chancellor of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).

Biography

HRH Tuanku Tengku Fauziah binti Almarhum Tengku Abdul Rashid was born from the union of royal families from two states. Her father was Tengku Abdul Rashid Ibni Almarhum Sultan Sulaiman Badrul Alam Shah, the Sultan of Terengganu, while her mother was Tengku Putri binti Almarhum Sultan Ibrahim Petra, the Sultan of Kelantan.

Educational Background

HRH Tuanku Tengku Fauziah binti Almarhum Tengku Abdul Rashid was born on 6 June 1946 and raised in Kota Bharu, Kelantan. She received her early education at Zainab English School, where she showed a keen interest in netball and stage performances. As a princess of royal lineage, she was instilled with noble values and high standards of decorum, and was nurtured to always be generous and kind-hearted towards others. Deep within Her Royal Highness’s heart lies the conviction that all blessings bestowed by Allah SWT are not meant to be kept for oneself, but should be shared with others. Guided by the principle that the true meaning of life lies in giving, she believes that happiness is found in giving and in honouring others.

The King and the People Are Inseparable

On 12 December 2006, Her Royal Highness, together with HRH Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail, returned to the state of Perlis after completing five years in the nation’s capital. Her Royal Highness resumed her position as the Raja Perempuan of Perlis and has resided at Istana Arau ever since. Her Royal Highness is blessed with a son, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince of Perlis, HRH Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Ibni Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, and a daughter, Her Highness Dato’ Seri Datin Paduka Hajjah Sharifah Fazira, as well as four grandchildren.
