MAIPs was established by the late Almarhum Raja Syed Alwi Jamalullail under the Syariah Court Enactment 1920.

Raja Syed Alwi declared the method for collecting zakat throughout the state of Perlis (18 November) under the Perlis Zakat and Fitrah Collection Regulations 1932 (Alwi Mosque/1933: Amil appointed/1936: Almaad).
The MAIPs Enactment was approved by the late Almarhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail on 27 December.
MAIPs was incorporated as a statutory body.
The Baitulmal and Zakat Enactment was enacted. His Royal Highness Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, who began serving as the 7th Yang di-Pertua of MAIPs in 1986, has been a strong pillar in upholding the foundations of Sunni Islam (Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jamaah) in Perlis.
His Royal Highness Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail implemented the MAIPs Management Transformation Programme, bringing significant changes to the organisation.
His Royal Highness Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail consented to officiate the MAIPs 100th Anniversary Celebration Ceremony at Istana Arau on 17 July. The MAIPs Time Capsule was launched and serves as a foundation for the MAIPs Strategic Plan 2021–2025.
